The Black Citrus Aphid (Toxoptera aurantii) is a small black aphid species which can
infest several species of trees, including citrus plants. This species is known to transmit
the citrus tristeza virus (as well as other plant viruses) and can cause extensive
damage. During feeding the aphids, at various development stages, appear to move in
synchrony over a whole colony. Alatae are uncommon.
