Description: Medium sized agaric, gregarious often on decaying wood, sometimes buried. Several specimens found.

Pileus: Initially conical with velar fibrils in immature specimens, becoming flattened on maturity; dry, fibrillose with several fibrils criss-crossing the surface, pale brown in colour with a darker brown centre. Diameter 21-65mm.
Stipe: Cylindrical and almost straight, thickening slightly towards the subbulbous base, fibrillose with peeling, hollow centrally, white to light brown, flesh pale changing to brown on cutting, without ring, fragile; diameter 1.5-10mm and 22-60 mm in height.
Gills: Adnexed, initially pinkish-brown darkening to a light brown, crowded, with lamellulae (l=3), and visible cheilocystidia along the edge.
Spore print: Pinkish brown to light brown.
Smell: Mealy.

Microscopy:
Pileipellis: Cellular with tips of hyphae forming the pellis.
Basidia: 4-spored.
Cheilocystidia: Abundant, found in bundles, skittle shaped.
Pleurocystidia: Absent.
Gill Trama: Parallel.
Caulocystidia: Abundant near cap area, in bundles, skittle shaped.
Spores: Ellipsoid, pale coloured, roughened surface, without visible germ pore; 8.8-11.3µm x 5.3-7.7µm, Q=1.44-1.82, Qm=1.64
