Pleuroxus cf. letourneuxi (Richard, 1888)

This species of Pleuroxus was found in a temporary water pond at home. It was being attacked by a small platyhelminth but it was unable to feed on them.
The only reported species of
Pleuroxus, in Malta, is P. letourneuxi and this specimen fits the description in Kotov & Ferrari (The taxonomic research of Jules Richard on Cladocera (Crustacea: Branchiopoda) and his collection at the National Museum of Natural History, U.S.A.), 2010.
