Mutillidae
The Velvet Ant (Mutilla quinquemaculata) is actually a wasp. The females do not have wings and are different from males. They can be distinguished from ants by the hairyness and lack of nodes attached to the abdomen. This female specimen was seen roaming around after strong winds and rain.
