The Onion bulb fly (Eumerus strigatus) is a small hoverfly whose larvae can cause damage to bulbs (onion as well as flowering bulbs, e.g. Narcissus) especially if bulb is damaged or rotting.

The specimen above is a female and its exact identity cannot be ascertained as females belonging to
E. striatus or E. sogdianus cannot be differentiated. (see link below for Eumerus key).
