Echium italicum is a biennial plant with extensive short hairs all over the plant. It flowers in late spring and by winter the dead plant appears a miniature greyish 'christmas tree'. It is fairly common in some areas and can reach heights of over 60cm. The flowers are pale and with very long stamens.
