The Red Starfish (Echinaster sepositus) is a medium sized vivid coloured species of starfish. It's red to red-orange colour is lost at depth close to 30m and appears dark. The 5 rounded arms are equipped with short spines and depressions on the surface and is not smooth. It is found at various depths but generally deeper than 10m and is easy to identify as closely related species are often with smooth arms.
