The Rainbow wrasse (Coris julis) is a small fish which is commonly found close to shore in
particular around Posidonia meadows. The female is drab in colouration whilst the male is
more brightly coloured by a wavy orange red horizontal band with a dark streak around
the middle. The female are smaller than the males and newly hatched fish are initially all
female. The females then change sex to males as they grow older and larger.
