Cltyia linearis is a medium sized colonial species of sympodially branched hydroid. It was found growing on Halimeda tuna, Posidonia oceanica, Dictyopteris sp and also on bedrock. It is a common species around the Maltese Islands but is circumglobal in its distribution.

This specimen was identified and described in detail (p. 190 & Fig. 6d)
in the following paper published (2013) by Soto Àngel and Peña Cantero.
