Anthomyia cf. pluvialis is a rare species of fly which is distict from other species by the 'polka dot' pattern of black dots on its body. There are several similar species and separation to specific taxa is difficult to confirm from photographic material only. The adult males feed on nectar and pollen from flowering plants.
