Description: Small to medium agaric, solitary to
scattered, on soil in open ground/meadows.
Pileus:Hemispherical to broadly convex,
orangey-brown with paler margin when young
becoming evenly coloured with age, dry, smooth,
diameter 12-55mm. Stipe: Whitish, fleshy, almost straight but thickens
slightly towards the base, without ring, fibrillose,
centrally hollow darkening (central edges) on cutting;
diameter 2-6mm, 15-30mm height. Gills: Adnate, close, pale brown coloured changing to
dark brown with pale edge on maturity, l=3.
Microscopy: Pileipellis: Globular cells with a lower layer of
interwoven hyphae. Basidia: 2-, and more commonly 4-spored. Cheilocystidia: Present, very variable from clavate to
elongated rounded tips to subcapitate to bifid. Pleurocystidia: Absent. Gill Trama: Irregular. Spores: Brown, ellipsoid, with very small but distinct
germ pore, smooth; L= 7.3-8.8µm, W = 4.9-6.0µm,
Q=1.36-1.63, Qm=1.48
