Description: Medium sized agaric, fleshy, growing on soil amongst grasses or very hard ground (foot paths).

Pileus: Convex to broadly convex, white, dry, partially scruffy, splitting surface showing white flesh in some areas, some velar remnants on cap margin; 60-75mm diameter, 30mm height. Slight browning on cutting.
Stipe: Fleshy and solid, short, tapering slightly towards the base, with velar remnants forming a thin ring; 18-25mm diameter, 18-35mm height.
Gills: Free, crowded, initially pinkish changing to a dark brown, l=3
Spore print: Purplish brown.

Microscopy:
Pileipellis: Thin compact interwoven hyphae.
Basidia: Mainly 2-spored, with few 3 spored and occasional 4-spored, variable between specimens.
Cheilocystidia: Absent - undifferentiated.
Pleurocystidia: Absent.
Spores: Elliptical to ovoid, smooth with central oil drop, brown, without germ pore. L=6.6-9.5µm; W=5.0-7.0µm; Q=1.16-1.54, Qm=1.32.
